The Educate The Block {ETB} Work Based Learning Environment {WBLE} Media Production Program trains participants for careers is the production and audiovisual industries”. It is our 4-month Occupational Program.

Our Media Production Program focuses on perfecting student’s creative and technical skills for various media industry positions. This course provides instruction and practical experience in multiple multi-media topics and a selection of new COVID-19 influenced areas of importance. This program is designed for positions in demand within the media industry. We provide internships with professional filmmakers and tv sets to give students ‘real-industry’ work experience.

In addition to securing employment, a departmental goal for our students is to encourage intelligent judgment, creative and socially responsible pursuits and living enriched, aesthetic lives in the careers of their choice. The Media Production course prepares students to develop fluency and flexibility in all aspects of media theory and production by facilitating various projects that include:

Program Description
The Hospitality Professional Program includes a series of Hospitality training, Digital Event and Meeting Planning, Virtual Workplace Etiquette, Time Management, Grammar and Dictation, and Basic Money Management. The Hospitality Curriculum builds upon this foundation and provides experience and in-depth education in the Hospitality and Virtual Event-related industries that have now transitioned online.  This course covers the broader industries that comprise the hospitality discipline. The Hospitality curriculum provides specific training required to prepare students to understand the scope of the new COVID-economy Hospitality Industry, its segments, and its opportunities. We groom students for positions as trained hospitality, food and beverage professionals in variety of food service settings including full-service restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, catering, operations, contract food service, health care facilities, , retirement facilities, hospitals and college/university food service operations.

Educate The Block at NJCU is facilitating Employer Led Merchant Mariner Training which is a 4 -month program in partnership with the North Atlantic Mates, Masters and Pilots Union. This course prepares students to work in union occupations in demand in the tri-state areas. This program is designed to develop communication and vocational skills, to be able to fluently understand the responsibilities, skills required and upcoming workloads for the Seaman industry.

Program Description

Our Job Search/Life Skills/Career Exploration CAREER BOOT CAMP is an 8-week robust program useful for life and essential for employment that is designed to prepare clients mentally and emotionally for the upcoming classes and workloads.

This facilitator-led class will provide an interactive environment which will include case studies and role play. The program will consist of assignments and supplemental readings to support classroom time. All clients will be expected to apply the learning material to their job searches between workshops. Guest speakers will also be invited to reinforce job search strategies and trends.

Program Description
Our course aims to introduce students to concepts of Customer Relationship Management, Project Management and Content Management Systems. This course, we will work on 3 basic office applications: – Hub Spot (CRM). – Asana (PMS). – WordPress (CMS). We partnered with four companies that provide internships for our students that often lead directly to employment. Our program is a project-based work environment that develops fluency, flexibility, and experience to enhance job placement opportunities.
Our program introduces the concepts as well as provides them hands-on training on these systems to be more efficient in their studies or at work or want to enhance their skill set experience for job prospects.

This Information Technology program provides students with training that focuses on the design of technological information systems, including computing systems, as solutions to business and research data and communications support needs. Includes instruction in the principles of computer hardware and software components, algorithms, databases, telecommunications, user tactics, application testing, and human interface design.

Program Description
The Customer Service Training Program is for entry level clients, both with and without previous experience, who want to work in the Customer Service industry. Our industry targets include: Customer facing service positions, Internal service positions and Telephony based service roles. The program teaches clients the fundamentals of each customer service role within the industry. Clients will be prepared for careers as customer service professionals or support staff professionals across all market sectors. THE BENEFITS are courses that produce employment candidates with the in-demand skills companies are requiring to serve their customer service concerns.

Each cycle is broken down into (4) 4-week courses exploring the many hats worn by customer service professionals. Facets of each role will be examined and studied for understanding of the demands of each. Training and instruction offered will provide a transferable skill set that will allow candidates to effectively function in any of the environments listed above. Each customer service role has unique demands that require multidisciplinary training.

The Customer Service program is an intensive orientation and a core curriculum that establishes a broad foundation for the discipline. Taught by a faculty of industry leading professionals and  practitioners, the program is structured to meet the needs of clients looking to find employment in the customer service industry allowing opportunities for either part-time, full-time or potentially, virtual employment upon completion.

The general core courses are modules that explore the customer service industry from one of three roles or any combination thereof. The strong foundation provided allows students to move confidently into one of three concentrations. Focusing on these specialized areas of study to complement your career goals, you complete the program with a mastery of communication. Collectively, there are 9.2 million trade and logistics workers across the country—truckers, material movers, cargo agents, and other occupations directly involved in moving goods—that form the backbone of our infrastructure workforce.

These jobs fill an invaluable niche in each local labor market. From transportation departments to ports to warehousing and storage facilities, industries in this sector offer outsized opportunities in the skilled trades and other technical fields with transferrable skillsets. These workers can also earn higher pay relative to lower formal educational barriers to entry, which provides vital support across all income levels.

But with every threat comes opportunities and wholesale distributors can start pivoting their business models to take advantage of them. governments are responded to the crisis by designating ports, shipping, and trucking services as essential.

ETB has partnered with NJCU in their Logistics Supply Chain Management program for the last 4 years. We have now customized a new Logistics Program specific to the COVID-19 economy.
