Decorating for the Reception
The bride and groom asked for the reception to have a theme of “African Heritage”. The class decided to highlight this theme through the use of color. Red flowers and napkins were used to contrast with black and white tablecloths. Baskets and natural wood candle holders were another major element of the decorations.
Hosting the Reception
The hospitality students took various roles at the reception, filling jobs such as server, bartender, and concierges. The happy couple’s invited guests were joined by hospitality industry professionals. These pros acted as judges, taking notes on the event and providing the class with advice on what went well and where there were opportunities for improvement. A great time was had by all.
Entertainment
The hospitality class had a surprise treat for the guests. Local artists Kamate Traders put on performance of traditional drumming and dance.
